About Us

Owner Kim Kelleher became a stay-at-home mom after getting a BA in Mathematics at the University of Virginia and spending six years in information technology consulting in New York City followed by five years of Human Resources management. After several years of focusing strictly inside the home, she started getting involved outside of it - specifically as treasurer for the PSO of her elementary school. Other treasurer roles in sports and volunteer organizations followed and then in 2010, she picked up her first official bookkeeping client. Within another year, she added three more clients and found that four clients filled all the time she had available outside of managing the lives of a six-person household (with 2-4 dogs).

Kim likes the "puzzle" of bookkeeping - not just entering transactions and paying bills, but also learning how the business runs, what information is most important and ordering charts of accounts to provide the best management reporting.

In 2018, she felt the time was right to expand Raw Books by adding a workforce that would allow for an expanded client list. And one of her hopes is that Raw Books might help to provide a path for other women wanting to return to the workforce.
